Year 5 Caring for Their Neighbours

Last Tuesday, our students in year five met with representatives from Regis Aged care, St Vincent de Paul, Redcliffe Breakfast Club and SANDBAG to discuss the visions of these organisations and the important work they do to serve different members of our community. During their Mercy afternoon, the students were able to reflect on the many blessings of their own lives and the ways they can support these important local charities. The Year Fives have been meeting with all of the classes to discuss with them what they learnt during the Mercy Afternoon about the needs in our community.

In his encyclical Fratelli Tutti, Pope Francis calls us all to universal fraternity and social friendship. He asks us to act like the Good Samaritan and to acknowledge that all other people of the world are our neighbours. Through their Christmas Appeal, The Year Fives are living the message of caring for all of their neighbours.

Our community is very generous and throughout the year has demonstrated their willingness to support different causes. We thank everyone for all that they have already done this year and acknowledge that due to cost of living pressures not all families might be in a position to contribute at this time. Any donations will be greatly appreciated by all of the organisations which the Year Fives are supporting in this appeal.
