Inclusive Education

The Inclusive Education Team comprises our Support Teacher Inclusive Education (STIE) and our Guidance Counsellor (GC). Our STIE and GC, in collaboration with parents, class teachers, members of the school community, and other professionals within Catholic Education and the wider community, strive to ensure a continuum of educational options that emphasise inclusion and cooperation.

The STIE works with and supports the class teachers in the following ways:

  • Assessing students' needs,
  • Adjusting curricula to more adequately meet the needs of students with special education needs,
  • Providing specialised equipment, instructional techniques and materials as required,
  • Meeting with parents to work on personalised support plans,
  • Working with advisory teachers and allied health professionals,
  • Planning and implementing intervention for literacy,
  • Provide Lego Club alternate to 2nd break playtime.

The GC works with and supports the students and class teacher in the following ways:

  • Counselling
  • Proactive and preventative education programs
  • Delivering whole cohort, small group and individual social emotional education programs
  • Co-constructing individualised behaviour plans
  • Working with teachers, leadership and the support team for complex case management and student protection matters
  • Collaborating with parents and teachers on the development and implementation of personalised support plans
  • Supporting parents with students' attendance challenges.
