Principal's Welcome

A Sacred Heart education ensures that our students graduate Primary school well-prepared to commence their Secondary Years journey having experienced an exceptional education.

Sacred Heart School Sandgate is a primary school with heart, where we are inspired to make a difference in our future and the future of others while being leaders in our learning journey. Nestled in the heart of historical Sandgate, between the lagoon and the sea, we offer a unique opportunity to both explore our natural world and be at the heart of our community.

As a Catholic school in the Mercy tradition, our students are encouraged to follow in the footsteps of Catherine McAuley who teaches us how to live like God wants us to, through our 'Habits of the Hearts.'  Through Habits of the Hearts, our students learn how to live out the values of compassion, respect, integrity, justice, hope, and joy in their learning and their interactions with others.  Put simply - “be doers of the word and not hearers only."

With learning at our heart, we strive to be collaborative, curious, and creative, guiding each student in their pursuit of excellence.   Our school is a safe and inclusive learning community that respects, values, and seeks to assist each student to succeed and flourish in all aspects of their schooling.  We are committed to empowering students in their learning with innovative pedagogy, using data to inform our learning and teaching. We value each student as an individual, and under the guidance of our excellent educators, we aim to maximise the learning growth of each of our students.

We acknowledge parents and carers as the first educators of their children and seek to work alongside you, in creating globally focused citizens.

As part of the network of Brisbane Catholic Education schools, Sacred Heart Primary school partners with you as parents and caregivers to:

  • teach faith-based, lifelong learning that engages the whole person
  • encourage every child to pursue academic excellence, plus excellence in all pursuits, so they realise their God-given potential
  • nurture each child's gifts, encouraging them to follow and live the teachings of Jesus

With community at our heart, we are proud of our diverse community of families who together bring different interests, talents, learning needs, styles, religions, and cultural heritages.

Please explore our website or book a tour to discover the Sacred Heart difference.

I look forward to welcoming you to our beautiful community.
